Obtaining the SKILL ANALYZER Lv.10 Shining Frame!!!

by Yucheng Zhang

SKILL ANALYZER, together with VOLFORCE is the indicator of the overall ability in SDVX. To obtain the shining frame for Skill Level.10 剛力羅(GoRiRa), one have to clear all courses in Lv.10 with a clear rate higher than 150%, which translates to a average score of 9,500,000 out of 10,000,000.

I have been stuck at Lv.10 for a long time, trying to obtain the shining frame which is the prerequisite for accessing Lv.11 and ∞. Though I’ve passed my first course of Lv.11 - HEAVENLY HAVEN Course 1B that is - in more than one year ago, I have long been in situation of merely finishing the courses with a passing rate instead of having the ability to achieve a higher accuracy or score.

The first course that I had a clear rate over 150% is VW Course 1B, consisting of {PIERROT KNIfE, Line 4 Ruin -kohumix- and KIMIDORI Streak!!}. Not sure what my thoughts were at that time, but I am confident on the fact that I have never though about obtaining the Shining frame at that time. The biggest obstacle to me was the chart Booths of Fighters. Booths of Fighters, or short for BOF, is a chart with high personal difference famous for its obnoxious high pace double stairs (12ths at 225BPM!). Contrary to other button-based arcade rhythm games, the irregular double stairs requires players to coordinate their hands’ position to meet up the high pace. While traditional 4k players can easily transfer their experience on regular key patterns like stairs/streams1 and trills2, the double stairs in BOF are like sucker punches that instantly empties their PERMISSIVE-gauge and boom, ANALYZE FAILED.

Interestingly, the title for Lv.10, is derived from the English work Gorilla. Japanese rhythm gamers jokingly call those with an dazzling skill as ゴリラ , (GoRiRa, which essentially is Gorilla). Everytime I encounter the double stairs of BOF, I feel like my brain empty as a gorilla and can only keep hitting the notes like a furious animal. Maybe one really need the gorilla-like physical strength to obtain the Lv.10 badge of GoRiRa. The painful memories of practicing alternative hand movements, clearing charts with (simplified) double stair patterns, and attempting to pass BOF have made me long regard this course as the biggest and the only obstacle in achieving the shining frame.

Back to the story. I somehow managed to pass the BOF course - even with a shining-plate-approved rate of 151% (geesh!), and the game version updated into EXCEED GEAR together with a series of new course, introducing the song Nofram which ranked almost the hardest among all Lv.17 Songs. It was June 23rd that I achieved a wryly rate of 149% consisting a score set of 9770k, 9660k, and 9060k. That, for a long time is my personal best in this course. In times that my brains are not properly functioning, I can even fail Nofram with a full rate gauge.

Nofram, according to the official difficulty radar chart, have significant focus on single hand performance. Long laser lock one of your hands onto the knob and force you to hit the (usually seperated)
